Stampin Up's Blooming with Happiness.......

Well, I don't really know if they are blooming with happiness at Stampin Up, but that is the name of the retired stamp set that I used to make a bridal shower card with. My cousin's daughter is getting married over the summer, so I first had to have a shower card ready. Her colors on her Wedding invitation were Dark Purple, Ivory, and Gold!!! Yay, anytime there is purple involved I am a happy crafter! So, here is what I created:

I stamped the image onto my versamark pad, then onto the new SU color called Concord Crush, then heat embossed it with Clear embossing powder. So, if the image looks a little blurry, sorry. I tried several angles with my camera, this was the best photo I could catch. Anyhoo, I ran a piece of Concord Crush card stock through my cuttlebug with my Petals a Plenty embossing folder, then matted it onto a piece of metallic gold card stock. Next I painted the raised dots on the pattern with some Gold Smooch metallic Shimmer paint. Next I added a little bit of organdy ribbon and a tiny flower to the piece with the stamped image and a gold sticky pearl to the center of the flower. The base of the card (SU Very Vanilla) was sprayed with a combination of Gold and Fully Purple Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.

Here below is a close-up to show off some of the shimmer:

Now that I have your attention, I would like to introduce the newest member of our family.....

Chibbles, the Guinea Pig!

Isn't he adorable? He is so sweet too! He is a slightly early birthday present for our daughter Amanda, who turns 12 in two weeks. I am in love with this little guy, he is so soft and sits so still when you hold and pet him.

Well, as always until next time......... Blessings, Lisa

Faux Mosaic Fish

I saw an interesting technique on Splitcoast awhile back and have been wanting to give it a try. It is called Faux Mosaic, and it allows me to use some card stock scraps that I save in my altered heart box (see category list on the side bar for that one). I have this habit of saving absolutely anything that I think may be useful, yes I am a "pack rat", tis inbred in my immigrant genes on both sides of my family. Anyways, here is the card, and I used the stamp set "Ocean Commotion" from Stampin Up.

Here is a photo of just the mosaic pattern:

I think the easiest thing would be to just list by number the steps involved in making this:

  1. The first thing that I did was to gather scraps out of my box that were all in the cool blue colors. On this card I used Night of Navy, Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue, and even a few of the retired Bliss Blue all from Stampin Up.
  2. Next, I cut the ones whose shape that I didn't like.
  3. After that, I cut a base for the mosaic to a size that I liked.
  4. I cut a piece of Stampin Up's double sided sticky sheets to the size of my card stock base, and adhered it. Remove one side of protective sheet, lay it on the card stock, smooth it out, then remove the other side to expose the other sticky side.
  5. Place card stock scraps onto sticky sheet in any random positions that you like, leaving space between each one.
  6. Sprinkle embossing powder over entire mosaic piece. Shake off excess, and heat set. I chose to use silver EP here.
  7. Take your Versamark pad and apply it to the mosaic piece directly over and over until the entire piece is covered.
  8. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over entire mosaic piece, shaking of the excess.
  9. Heat set. That part is done.

Now for my Fish image! I stamped the image onto my Versamark pad, then onto an SU Ballet Blue ink pad, then kind of rolled the edges of the stamp on a Classic Night of Navy ink pad. I got a little more Navy on here than I wanted, but oh well. This part is called the "Rock and Roll" technique. Isn't that just like me to combine two techniques on one card just to be difficult? Next, I stamped the fish onto some Whisper White card stock, and added some clear embossing powder to it and heat set. Heat embossing? Oops, that makes three techniques on one card. Sorry ...my bad. Next, I cut out the fish with a square Spellbinder's square nesties die-cut , left the image in the die-cut while I sponged some ink around the edges so I would leave that nice white border around it. Next I cut a mat for the fish with a larger square nesty. Then for a little extra effect, I drew some bubbles with my Sakura Micron pen which can be found at any Michael's store. Phew, that was a long post, I hope I didn't put any of you to sleep.

Now, to close, I want to share a photo of my too sweet miniature Doxie, after my daughter dressed her in a doll blanket. Poor dog! She shook that little old body of hers for a few minutes to get herself free of it.

I don't know what to say

except that I may not be able to post for a few days, as one of my furry family members is sick. My miniature Dachshund, Brandy has Peripheral Vestibular Syndrome. It comes on rather suddenly, and it is caused by inflammation of the inner ear. The poor thing is extremely dizzy, so she has an upset stomach, and can barely walk straight. I did some research on this on the net, and it can last from anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. We are supposed to hold her alot and hand feed and water her. When she tries to walk after eating or drinking, she throws up. It kind of makes me feel helpless. We as a family are huge animal lovers, and consider them one of God's greatest gifts. So, she is one of our babies. I read this is very scary to the animal, and is very common in old animals (she's almost 15). So, please excuse my absence, and pray for Brandy to have a quick recovery. I will be back as soon as I am able, don't give up on my blog.

Blessings to all, Lisa

Busy, Busy, Busy

Hello. I am so busy this week trying to come up with some card ideas for a little contest that I am entering. Big secret, can't tell in case I bomb on the whole thing. I won't know the answer until March 6th anyways. So, unfortunately I have no new creations to share tonight and may not tomorrow as well. I will be back as soon as I can.

In the meantime, my kitty was being too cute in my craft room tonight, so I snapped a few photos. She loves to crawl under the cabinet that I keep my stamp sets in, and just stick her head out. Then when I move to the chair in front of the computer, she moves to the one at my craft table. That one is definately more comfortable. So, for your viewing pleasure here is Mittens in her cute mode:

Cute gray kitteh has cute white stripe above nose.

Hi mom, when are you going to pick up all of this trash?

Yes, that is a very purple trash can in my craft room!

Kitteh sleeps with one eye open to make sure mommy doesn't eat her cheeseburgers.

I am no good at this LOL cat language. A friend of mine told me about this hilariously funny website. http://www.icanhascheezeburger.com/ also visit: http://www.ihasahotdog.com/

Sleeping Kitty

Hello. I had a comment over on Splitcoast Stampers about my avatar photo. The avatar is the photo that appears next to your name averytime you place a comment, or upload a photo of a card or other creation. I put a photo of my cat, Mittens while she is sleeping, and someone left me a private message about how cute my cat is. So, I thought that I would just go ahead and post some more photos of Mittens, just for the heck of it. Oh, if you thought my cat is cute, pop on over to Lydia Fiedler's blog. She often puts photos of her two kittens that she adopted, Maddie and Splotchy. Lydia, somehow manages to get the funniest shots of those two captured on her camera.

"Please hold off on kisses until naptime is over!"

"I think I had a little too much catnip"

"Go away, I have a headache"

"Go ahead, bask in my cuteness"

"Can I stamp too?"

"HA! My people will never find me here"

Sorry, nothing creative tonight.

Hello. So sorry, but I am still working on my stuff for that craft bazaar tomorrow morning. I was under the weather at the beginning of the week, and got nothing done. So, now I am crafting like Speedy Gonzales. Remember him, he was that cute little mouse on Looney toons cartoons years ago. He was the fastest mouse in all of Mexico, and so dog gone cute too. Yep, those were the good old days. Anyways, I will have photos of all of the stuff that I made for the craft thing, and will post them on my blog on Sunday or Monday afternoon. I do have a couple of cute photos of my family pets to share though. Hopefully, you all like animals. So without further wait, here are Brandy the Miniature Dachshund, and Mittens, the cat.

Aren't they cute?

Have a great weekend! Lisa
