Soft Pencil Tuesday!

Welcome back to Soft Pencil Tuesday! I created a card today with the image "Michu and his Mom", for Mother's Day! I usually color Michu gray, I think because my own kitty (Mittens) that ran away last year is gray. So, I tried very hard to step out of my comfort zone today. Hope you like it.
The pretty papers that I used in the background are from Colorbok, the rest are from Stampin Up. The sentiment is also from Stampin Up. Of course I had to embellish a little, so I used on of the butterfly stickers from Soft Pencil Garden Friends sticker sheet. Love their stickers, I am going to order more real soon, so keep visiting my blog for more inspiration using them! Now go visit the other DT ladies blogs for more Soft Pencil inspiration! Until next time...........Blessings, Lisa

Stamp-n-doodle Tuesday!

Welcome to Stamp-n-doodle Tuesday! Lynne has created some new Mother's Day images and put them in the store, so we are showing one of them to give you some Mother's Day inspiration! This image is called "Cooking", it reminds me of me and my grandmother. I spent so very much time with her growing up, I am very blessed! Here it is:
I colored the image with Stampin Up markers, Copic Markers and some SU pastels for a soft background around the image. The paper and card stock is all Stampin Up. The two types of ribbon has been in my stash forever, it from Making Memories. The interesting embellishment on the ribbon has a unique story. It is a button that I cut the back off of. One day after we moved last summer, I found a little baggie full of buttons. I have absolutely no memory of where it came from, but it is fabulous! I had to chop the back off of alot of them, and then they were ready to use. There is such a huge variety, I felt like I got a new toy! Here is a picture of them all:
Gotta love them! Go visit the other SND DT ladies blogs then join in the weekly challenge on the SND blog to win free digi images! I gotta go. Come back later today for Soft Pencil Tuesday! Until next time..............Blessings, Lisa

Stamp-n-doodle Monday!!!

Welcome back to another Stamp-n-doodle DT day. We are all showing you creations made with the new image called "Mother". The SND DT ladies made some beautiful samples for you to see this week, so don't forget to go visit all of their blogs. You can find links to them on my sidebar, just scroll down a little bit. So, here is what I came up with for today:
I was still trying to keep it Vintage, and unfortunately, I forgot to place a thank you sentiment on it as we were requested to do. So, just for me, pretend the sentiment is on there. So, after coloring the image and mounting it onto some Stampin UP Pink Pirouette card stock, I distressed it a little with a sponge and some SU Close to Cocoa ink. The designer paper is from a retired Stampin Up paper pack, the trim is from the Paper Studio, purchased at Hobby Lobby. The flower is unknown as it was part of a gift from a friend. The bloue swirl at the top was made with the Sizzix Di-cut called " Scribbles Swirls". Finally the faux Pearls on the swirl are Basic Gray, which I bought from the McMahon Five Designs online store (see link on my sidebar).

I was asked to create a card using the image called "Mother". I thought it had an old fashioned/vintage look to it, so I used some soft muted pastel colors on it. the image is colored with Stampin Up's Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Blush Blossom, and Pear Pizzaz. The sentiment is from the SU stamp set "Teeny Tiny Wishes", the flower embellishments are from Prima, and the flower centers are from Michael's Craft Store.
In addition to the hop, we have a challenge for you this week and it is to create a Mother's Day project. You are not required to use a Stamp-n-doodle image to play in our challenges, but if you do, you will get two entries per creation in our random.org drawing for the winner. Sticker's on Cards?????

yep, you heard me correctly, sticker's on my cards today! I love to experiment with my paper crafting, especially with cards. I saw some Martha Stewart Flower stickers for $1.00 per package at my local Big-Lots store, and decided to try them on some cards. I thought, well, if Jennifer McGuire and Jana Millen can put stickers on cards, so can I. Oh, these two ladies are very talented, and I have links to their blogs on my favorite blogs list over on my sidebar. So, I got 6 flower stickers in one package, they are large flowers, so that got me 6 cards out of the pack. Good deal!! There were 3 pink and three white flower stickers, so, here is what I came up with:
The White stickers have a very pale pink pearl in the center, but what the heck, I put them on Blue cards. I thought these would make cute Mother's Day cards. The sketch I used is from the Clean and Simple Blog, but I can't remember the number of the sketch. Hop on over there and browse (link on my sidebar), you will find it, and many more cute sketches. The card base is Bazzill cs, the dsp is Provo craft paper. The sentiment was heat embossed and is from Stampin Up's "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.

Sympathy cards are a hard one for me to make, so I tried it with the pink flowers. The card base is SU Whisper White, the pink cs is The Paper Studio, and the DSP is Basic Gray. The sentiment is also from the TTW stamp set from SU., and the scallop border on all cards was made with my SU scallop border punch. I will be back tomorrow with some more cards made with stickers.

Until next time........Blessings, Lisa

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers and mothers-to-be out there! I am getting the finest treatment today from my daughter and my husband! My daughter made me the most beautiful card with a totally sweet letter inside telling me all the reasons that I am the best mother in the world. My husband bought me a delicious ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. So yummy, I can't wait to taste it after dinner later today! I have some very last minute Mother's Day cards to show you, sorry I am so late with them. However, the layouts could be used for other cards as well, just change the stamps you use to fit whatever the occasion may be.

This first one was made with a stamp from a set made by Just Rite Stamp Company. I love their stamps, such cute designs. The sketch is an old sketch from Splitcoast Stampers, it is SC29. I added the little buttons to the sketch though. The buttons could be replaced with sticky Gems, pearls, many different embellishment options out there. I used Stampin Up markers to color the image, Spellbinder's Nestibilities to cut out the image and it's matting, the card stock is SU Pretty in Pink, and Rose Red, and the Designer paper is also from Stampin Up. The buttons are from an adorable little container filled with buttons that I found a the Michael's dollar bin.
This next card I cased from Lee Ann Gref's blog, which you can find here. I used a 3/4" square punch, then a corner rounder to round the corners of only 2 of each square. The centers are rhinestone brads from Stampin Up, the border was made with the new Stampin Up Scalloped Border punch, the ribbon is 1/4" Celery Grosgrain ribbon from Stampin Up, and the sentiment is from the SU stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes. Just think of the color combos you could use with this design, and the several different occasions that the layout could be used for. Love versatile, and simple cards!

This next card design was also cased from Lee Ann Greff. Her blog; Flowerbug's Inkspot, is an awesome place for great ideas! I have tons of Designer Paper laying around, most of which was a gift from a couple of friends that I have that are way too sweet. The DSP that I used on this card is from DCWV Baby Boy 8x8 stack that I won as pat of some Blog candy over on Becca Feeken's blog "Amazing Paper Grace". She is the first one listed on my favorite blogs list over on my sidebar, take a peek at her wonderful creations when you are done here. She is one of the most talented people that I have ever met and soooooo sweet too. Oh, and when she gives away blog candy, she gives away some awesome stuff! Anyways, I changed the right bottom corner element on my version of this card. I used the Stampin UP/Sizzix sisslet di-cut called Floral Fusion to create the embellishment. The di-cut has 3 different sized flowers on it, and I cut 2 of it, curled it a bit with a stylus, and layered them together with an SU rhinestone brad in the center holding them all together. Then I adhered it with a stampin foam dimensional. The other three corners were punched out with my Stampin Up Scalloped Corner punch, the ribbon is from Stampin Up's last years Sale-a-bration promotion, and again the sentiment is from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Now, please remember that I am running a sale on all retiring color products from Stampin Up until the end of June, see this post here.
Also, to see the Soft Pencil Designs blog hop, and to enter to win Free digi images from them, see the post before this one, scroll down. The blog hop lasts until This evening, Sunday, at 8pm. I believe that after that all of us DT members will draw a name from our comments on the blog hop posts and give away the digi images that we each used on our blog hop projects.
Until Next Time...........Blessings, Lisa

Early Mother's Day card

Hello. I was feeling inspired when I saw my Prima flowers and my cuttlebug supplies sitting on my craft table, so this card was the result of that inspiration. Not too much stamping involved, but tomorrow there will be. The sentiment on the front is a hero arts stamp that I have had forever, and it came in a container with a dozen other nice sentiments for almost any occasion minus any holidays. I plan to stamp "Happy Mother's Day" on the inside, and sore it away for my mom. Good thing she doesn't have or play on computers. I was kind of bummed with how the photo turned out, the lighting was bad I guess, and you can't see the true colors on the card. I wanted to use these particular flowers, because they were a shade of blue that my mom loves, and the retired Buckaroo Blue color from Stampin Up matched them perfectly. So, I got out my treasured stash of Buckaroo Blue card stock and went to town cutting. Who better to use such a precious retired color on than a card for mom? The paper that the flowers are on is an iridescent white from The Paper Studio, and ran through my cuttlebug machine with one of my Die-cuts. Then I double mounted them on Buckaroo Blue and Bazzill's Navy card stock (I ran out of Night of Navy - one of my favorites). Next, I took some SU Whisper White, and ran it through my cuttlebug with one of my embossing folders. Then I sponged some Buckaroo Blue ink onto the embossed piece, and double mounted it as well. Then I pulled some ribbon from my stash that came close to matching, and adhered that, along with a blue rhinestone brad from SU. Next I stamped, sponged, double mounted a sentiment and adhered with foam dimentionals. The flowers are popped up with foam dimensionals as well. Then the last thing I did was to mount the whole thing onto some SU Whisper White card stock, sponge the edges, and add some light blue gems to the flowers. Tah Da. Now, always remember that any Cuttlebug die-cuts, and embossing folders can be used in the SU/Sizzix Big Shot. I can show you how! I already had a cuttlebug long before the Big Shot was introduced, so I continue to use that. If anyone wants to do a workshop using the SU Big Shot die-cuts, just let me know. We can do some really cute stuff with them. I need to go pay some attention to my daughter before bed-time, so I am off. Enjoy the close-up photo below, and come back tomorrow so we can "Embrace Life" together. Am I witty or what? Probably the "what".
